Meadows School of the Arts

The Meadows School of the Arts, formally established at SMU in 1969 and named in honor of benefactor Algur H. Meadows, is one of the foremost arts education institutions in the United States. The Meadows School offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in 10 disciplines including art, dance, film, music and theatre.

In addition to training students for professional careers in the visual, performing, and communication arts, the school serves as a significant cultural center by presenting more than 400 events annually for the Dallas community and surrounding region, from classic and cutting-edge plays and music concerts to art exhibitions to acclaimed dance and opera productions.

Graduates have found success in Broadway and regional theatre, in film and television, with major orchestras and opera companies, as principals of top dance companies, and as visual artists collected by major museums.
